Pete Rose is such a douche

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I mentioned on the other thread that he was just sort of being combative and belligerent. Maybe it's what helped him get the edge to make him great but who knows. Have always respected the way he played the game though. Sort of a predecessor to players like Erstad, who left everything out on the field.

I'll say it again, Manfred made a terrible mistake allowing Rose inside the stadium.

At the end of last year after Manfred was announced as commissioner, Pete Rose actaully petitioned to be allowed to manage games again. I wouldn't be opposed to him being in the hall of fame, but no way in hell should he ever manage again after gambling.

At 4:05 - pre-game - Frank Thomas & some other guy were at the desk with Petey...and they were discussing the Ray Fosse play. Rose said:

"Hey, I missed one game after that play...he played 7 more seasons..."

Really schmuck-head? Ray Fosse was never the same...like Tony Conigliaro:

Pete Rose is a liar and a skunk-fu-ck.

Nice hair cut...

Pete Rose is absolutely worse than A-Rod or any player associated with PEDs. At least A-Rod didn't bet against his own team–that is an unforgivable and shameful act. He should try and avoid the public eye to spare what little dignity he might have left.

i'm not a rose supporter, but for the sake of accuracy, as i remember it, there was no proof that he ever bet against the reds. in fact, many to this day use that as their reasoning for him being admitted to the HOF.

He bet for the Reds on some days and declined to bet on other days. That's effectively the same thing.

The latter part of that (managing) shouldn't be happening anyway, now that he's in his mid 70s.

Give him the HOF, and just let him ride off into the sunset and take his arrogance with him.

Hey, Vince McMahon could always hire him for another Kane tombstone.

I can still hear Jim Ross yelling "Oh my god, that's Pete Rose!" as Kane did it the first time.

Pete's an asshole. Always has been. You know else was a real SOB? Ty Cobb. Oh and Barry Bonds. Ted Wioams was quite the egomaniac and insufferable ahole in his older years.

These guys were born with a screw loose, and had something to prove.

And they did it. Don't expect Pete to change. He isn't going to. There are a lot of guys who sanitize things these days. Pete won't, and he suffers the fallout from it.

Pete is too dense and too old to understand that baseball is more than lacing up the spikes and going 3-5 with a few runs and rbis. He doesn't get that it's a business, a massive PR and marketing operation that can live without him.

I don't fault Pete for being Pete and Fox puts him up there to put an electrical charge in the coverage. They just sit back and wait to see if he electrocutes himself or not.

That's hardly the same thing. That means he didn't have the confidence to lay the bread out on the team that day. Here we call that "every time Weaver starts."

The difference is Pete not betting on the Reds tells the bookies their line might need to be adjusted as much as him putting money down. He becomes an inside trader.

The best is walking through the strip mall, that combines two casinos (Luxor and Mandalay Bay, I think), where there is a little sports memorabilia shop with no one it in, and there sits Pete Rose, at a desk, with pens, and a little rope to direct the line of people awaiting his autograph.....but there is no one in line.   Four years in a row now I've been at Vegas for a trade show, and every year, for each day of the week, I saw the same thing in the morning on the way to the show, and the evening on the way back from the show.

Plenty of people walking the mall, just no one giving a rat's ass about Pete and his overpriced autographs.

Yes... yes he is, but he still belongs in the hall of fame without question in my opinion.
ban him from day to day baseball employment, whatever. ..fine, but how can you exclude the man with more fits than anyone else ever had in the game from a shrine to the greatest achievements in the game.
The 2 are not attached

Just tell him that he will be considered eligible for the HOF post mortem. He is truly a victim of his own actions. He lied, then he lied some more, then he came clean but then lied when he came clean. Now he has commercials where he is in the hallway of a home and a woman tells him he is not allowed in the hall. He needs to play the roll of apologetic former star.

That's his wife. Have you seen her cans? Pete is 74. This isn't a guy who is changing. He's the kind of guy that has about 10 yrs left to live.
