Obama failed to contain In N Out

Recommended Posts

A lot of blame to go around.  Months ago many news  sources reported Saudia Arabia and Qatar, our allies were funding Isis, which would be consistent historically.  Then last month Obama said "the US underestimated the rise of Isis" but with a contradictory policy of funding syrian rebels, resulting in the the US essentially funding Isis.  The American people should be so sick of being lied to while our country's reputation gradually descends.

Considering how much of the public was for this action.  Yes.

Just because the majority of the public was for action doesn't mean it was going to be shooting fish in a barrel. We all knew it was going to be pulling teeth waging a war with IS and other extremists that are youtube waging war on The West.

A story similar to this would be told no matter what action we took in Syria because there is no good side to be on. Once IS rolled into Iraq I have no doubt that the intent was to let them run Malaki out of office before we would lift a finger. The countries in the region have already bought hundreds of billions of dollars worth of military hardware from us. How can we get them to buy more without a chance to use it?

Did the public think it was going to be as easy as shooting fish in a barrel?

I thought there was probably a chance for victory with clearly defined goals and a mission defined by the military, not politicians. Oh, and none of this fiction about somehow it isn't a war if we only do airstrikes

North Korea and Viet Nam especially were wars that the military's hands were tied on what they could and could not do.  I think that once a clear goal has been defined ( and that has seemingly been difficult for our leadership to do now for the last half century) you need to step off and let the military reach that goal.

When it comes to defeating another military we do it better then anyone. When it comes to going into another country and battling an indistinguishable group of its citizens for an unspecified length of time we also do it better than anyone, which is to say that we do it poorly instead of failing miserably.
