HFA would hopefully allow Nibs to mainly pitch at home in the post-season (game 2 of ALDS and games 2 and if needed 6 of the ALCS and WS).

At least then they would have a chance because he is so much better at home.

No way I would waste a home game with nibs pitching.  Its the playoffs, you throw your best 2 pitchers first, and use them as much as possible later on.  You start whatever you have left on the road, and hope for the best in a crapshoot.

Even if he is so much better, and reliable, at home?

We know he's gonna be in the rotation. Might as well maximize his effectiveness.

Even if Shoemaker pitches, your 2nd and 3rd starters will likely make the same number of starts, depending on how far each series goes.

Weaver and Shoemaker are both dominant at home- almost a 2 run swing in ERA between home and away for both  (2.68/4.62 and 2.10/4.45 respectively) - so I think they should get the game 1 and 2 starts respectively.  Santiago doesn't have the same extreme splits (4.11 home/3.56 away) so he should get the nod in game 3 and then its a toss up between Nibbler and LeBlanc.

Starting before Santiago is understandable.  Personally I would make Santiago the 3rd starter, because hes shown he can be dominant in some stretches.  And he can beat quality opponents like Oakland, if you consider them quality.  

 

But there is no way in heck Wilson should ever start before Shoemaker.
