Why on earth is Conger hitting here? He has a .457 OPS from his past 38 starts. If we're not pinch hitting for him late in a game when we're down by two runs, why have a bench?

You use the term "hitting" very loosely.

The frustration from me in this game doesn't come from the fact we're losing, it's that it feels like we're just giving it away with stupidity. Awful defensive plays which cost us our lead, forced Santiago out of the game earlier than he otherwise would have and then gave them the lead...not to mention the terrible approach everyone not named Trout or Hamilton has had at the plate. This game has truly sucked.

Getting beat by Sam Fuld would be like Hank Conger actually gettign a big hit vs the A's. That's what makes it suck that much more

agree with prior post -- Gray's pitch count is pathetic (for us).

 

it means Gray completes the game and we're not getting to the A's pen.

 

how many times have we all seen a game where the starter dominates, exits the game at the 105 or whatever pitch count and the pen takes over and suddenly the team that's been shut down all night comes to life.......

 

that's probably not happening tonight..........Gray gets a complete game win -- or -- if a guy gets on in the 9th, the A's closer takes over.

The key guys have been getting overworked lately, especially in the last week. With how bad the offense has been the past month, every damn game is a save situation, basically

So many bad defensive plays that it's hard to keep track of them all - Aybar's throw away, Pujols' awful attempt at keeping the ball in front of him, Kendrick's throw, Hamilton's throw, the Fuld play.
