Angels acquire Rich Hill; Option Kohn to AAA

Recommended Posts

Yes, Brad Mills.   Would you rather they give up players?

Today's game is a good indication of why it's better to pay cash than move players for guys like Hill.

I guess you didn't get my point, my point is if the A's got someone with $1, then Dipito shouldn't pay anything more than that.

Considering Dipoto once got a player from the Phillies for free, the A's overpaid.   https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/big-league-stew/priceless-philadelphia-phillies-trade-pitcher-mike-cisco-los-175352340--mlb.html

I mean, why make $1 the new standard?  Any deal that requires the Angels to give up anything is a bad deal.

I don't care how shitty he is, getting RPs for cash considerations is something Dipoto should be praised for, not fired over. Money they have...

He is crap....and I do care that DiPoto is wasting another roster spot on another crap relief pitcher Edited by DMVol

Really, you care that the team is using a roster spot that was vacant?   Would you REALLY be upset if the Angels had to drop Yoslan Herrera or someone along those lines to get a look at Rich Hill?  To me that's like getting pissef off at the team for throwing away Dixie cups.  And sure he's crap, Dipoto is trying to get lucky with some scrub RP who he might be able to get some mileage out of on the cheap.

No need to have made the deal, wasted effort for no good reason....if he were a young guy w/ upside, that's fine but this is a veteran guy and he's exactly what you saw tonite....would rather see Kohn (again)....

wasted more of kohn's options too.  i dont like to risk losing a guy who can throw 97 mph no matter how wild he is while dipoto keeps trying to turn shit into gold.

the option is good for the whole year.  you can bring him up and down as many times you want during that season.

This doesn't waste an option. Those work by year, so the first time he was sent down this year used up one of his options.

After that, the Angels can shuttle him up and down as much as they like this season and it doesn't make a difference as far as the options go.

Meh -- I'd classify it under the whole, nothing ventured, nothing gained sort of situations.   Don't disagree he's crap at all.
