Well if they optioned Kohn, I wouldn't think Hill would be the 26th guy for the double-header. Unless there's another move yet to be mentioned.

Oh wait, forgot the 26th man rule only applies in this situation

 

"The Collective Bargaining Agreement rule that allows clubs a 26-man roster for day-night doubleheaders only applies if the twin bill is scheduled at least 48 hours in advance."

 

So it wouldn't be the case here. Hill is a lefty reliever though, so he's probably just getting an audition outright replacing Kohn ahead of the trade deadline. Which really isn't a loss.

Wait, maybe  not. Not sure, there is only one Rich Hill that pops up on BBREF and he is supposed to be with Boston.

He's actually got a career K/9 of 11 as a reliever and the HR problem has been less of one in that role. 

 

But yeah, he's got some scary walk numbers. My expectations are low.

Rich Hill is a lifelong Red Sox fan, Boston area native. I remember reading something on him about his whole goal in life was not just to play baseball but to play baseball for the Red Sox.

Today's game is a good indication of why it's better to pay cash than move players for guys like Hill.
