Granted that Hamilton was not going to stay that hot for the entire season, but replacing his early level of (offensive) performance was going to be nearly impossible.

What's there to wait and see, really? Those guys have been very good so far, I think. Stewart has had way better AB's than Freese, and Cowgill is a friggin gamer. I love the dude's intensity.

I don't care much for Cowgill, but that dude is definitely a red-ass.  I also hate to say it but I almost prefer Stewart to Freese.  Freese just looks awful right now and knowing the organizational view of him is that he's a clutch power hitter means I expect him hitting somewhere in the 4-5-6 range which makes me ill.   At least with Stewart in there they will bat him down in the order.

Definitely agree.

Stewart, Conger, McDonald, Shuck, and Cowgill combine for a .344/.382/.625 stat line, with 1 GIDP in 68 PA.

Better than anybody not named Trout and Hamilton, and certainly way better than Freese, Iannetta, and Kendrick who have about half their OPS.

Stewart and Johnny Mac have been a lot of fun to watch thus far. Hopefully they keep the intensity and level of play up.

We started this season with Stewart, Cowgill, McDonald, and Conger on the bench.  There was some head scratching about this, but so far it looks like it could very well be the right decision.    Shuck is already up here replacing Hamilton, and we are only one middle infield injury away from seeing Green.  We are going to need all these guys, and more, before the season ends.

What makes Stewart better than Freese? I'm not against any of these guys jw.

Stewart had a nice game yesterday and hit a garbage time HR. Jw what makes him that much better than Freese? Is it his defense? His approach to the plate? That Freese seeing eye single to start the ninth inning rally Saturday I believe was just as important as the garbage time hr Stewart hit sunday.
