@DanHayesCSN: Alex Rios has been traded to the #Rangers.

1:03pm: Hayes retracts the report on Garcia, noting that the Rangers will send the White Sox a player to be named later or cash (Twitter link). Jon Heyman of CBS Sports confirms that it's a PTBNL, and adds that the White Sox are sending $1MM to the Rangers in the deal (on Twitter).

He had a pretty good last year but this year he has been mediocre.

He is signed through 2014 with a club option for 2015 and the cost isn't too bad.

Not a bad gamble hoping that he can bounce back to last year's numbers.

Probably takes care of any chance Cruz had of being re-signed by Texas and could mean he won't be activated for the postseason (if Texas gets there).....

Leury Garcia if he makes it through Waivers. Al speed/defense no bat UIF. Otherwise they get nothing. Rios is a better defender and has 26 Sbs this year. the bat this year has been mediocre for a COF just .750 OPS

Rios is a definite upgrade over your current COF'er. Not a bad move on the part of the Rangers.

He probably will still be activated and still play COF. He has great career post-season numbers and LF for Texas is nothing special right now

Cruz is atrocious, defensively. Rios will start everyday in the field and Cruz will DH.

Cruz has a good arm.

But yep, the Gulf sign in St. Louis concurs.

That has to be a flyball he will never live down.

He's having just an ok year, the CWS are a terrible team that just wanted to dump his salary. Hopefully, next year he puts up the same numbers that he put up in 2011.

Rios is an every other year guy like Santana. Still it's not like he has a bad contract and defensively and on the bases he's an upgrade. Texas needed an outfielder and wasn't likely to have an better options from the waiver wire. Chicago should have been the ones with most of the leverage and got more than a likely AAAAer in return while paying cash too. It saves them a couple million for the rest of the season but they would have had the entire offseason to shop around for a better offer if they kept him.
