This team's defense is actually impressively bad

I think it's also a reflection of the random collection of retreads, has-beens, and never-weres that are run out there on a daily basis.  There are obviously reasons why guys like Nelson, Shuck, Brendan Harris, etc have bounced around or been released by other teams.

It's honestly embarrassing and unacceptable.

Anyone know how good Calhoun's defense is at first?

If Trumbo is traded he could possible be a fill in there if/when Pujols can't play the field.

Calhoun is listed at 5'10".  Which may or may not be a MLB/Eckstein 5'10".  Trumbo is listed at 6'4". 6" in height, 6" in reach.   That's a really big defensive difference.  And Pujols is listed at 6'3".

Wouldn't it be something if Shuck wins Rookie of the Year?

I would play him in place of Hamilton going forward. Bench the $125 million man.

Outfield of Shuck, Trout, and Calhoun. When Bourjos returns, Shuck can DH.

It's a weak year for rookies, but I still don't think he'll win.  Myers probably will.

Even in a weak year for AL rookies, there's no way that Shuck will win ROY. Wil Myers will probably win it. If Chris Archer, continues to pitch as well as he's been pitching, he has a decent chance at winning ROY.

I know what you're saying and you're probably right. Most 1B are around 6'2" or taller. Kendrick is the same height as Calhoun and has played about 90 games at 1B. It would be worth a shot to give Calhoun at least a few games at 1B to see how he handles it.
