Would you consider the arod contract a bad contract?

Turrable (as Charles Barkley would say)....and Brian Cashman knew it....when ARod and Boras opted out, Cashman wanted to let ARod walk....and he would have but Hal or Hank or whichever brother was calling the shots overruled him....they probably win it all in 09 without him....

Then how does it work? Why does a team like the yankees sign free agents? To entertain the fans? They sign guys to help them win a championship(s), which arod did

You can also easily say they could have won multiple rings and arod's struggles in 2010, 2011, and 2012 could have cost them the world series as well.

You mean the same logic that points out arods first three years? When did zito have the equivalent a .300 35hr 10rbi 15 steal year? And when did zito have the post season arod had in 09? Sure zito had two good sstarts last October, but he was along for the ride

And did you forget his playoffs in the last three years and playing so bad that he got benched?

Of course it was bad, perhaps the worst ever. I don't understand how a ring negates everything else. Should Cardinal and Giants fans be content with a decade of poor play and poor front office decisions because they recently won the WS? It doesn't work that way

It wasn't one championship!  AROD yankees only missed the playoffs one time during his tenure.  I maybe mistaken, but I think that is accurate.  So where do you get a decade of poor play?

Wasn't he the MVP of the WS?  I know the yankees wouldn't have gotten past the Angels let alone win the WS without him.

Not anywhere near as bad when compared to Albert Pujols. At least A-Rod had some quality seasons for the Yanks. We've gotten nothing but pure, utter and miserable disappointment from Pujols and we're only in year 2 of 10.

It's a horrible contract that accomplished a specific goal.  That second contract very closely mirrors the halos contract to pujols.

both coming off their 31 yo seasons although AROD turned 32 during the season and Albert just before his first with the halos.

AROD however, was coming off a monster season and pujols one that was good but not really on par with the rest of his career.

They got solid production from him for a couple of years althouh no where near value.  He was the heart of their lineup and at the time, there were no luxury taxes I think.  It's basically when the yankees could buy any player they wanted without consequence.

They won a world series in 2009 and made the playoffs in 2010, 2011, 2012.  His production aided in that although the last couple of years it likely wasn't the determining factor

Pujols was solid last year.  The team missed the playoffs in 2012 because of bad SP and a horrible bullpen.

I never said we didn't make the playoffs because of Pujols. I do, however, make the claim that Pujols has been a huge disappointment as well as failing to meet Angel fans' expectations. Relative to his contract, he has been a huge disappointment.
