Would you consider the arod contract a bad contract?

I never said we didn't make the playoffs because of Pujols. I do, however, make the claim that Pujols has been a huge disappointment as well as failing to meet Angel fans' expectations. Relative to his contract, he has been a huge disappointment.

I was disagreeing with you by saying he was solid last year.  I'll reserve my disappointment for when he's perfectly healthy and putting up hamilton type numbers.  Relative to his contract, pretty much any player would be a disappointment.  If you expected him to maintain his career numbers, then you were being unrealistic from the start. 

 

I brought up the playoffs because it's his job to help the team get there and last year he did his part well enough.  The team failed in spite of his solid numbers, not becasue of them and that's why I don't consider him a huge disappointment

The worst. The only reason any one that can consider it a success, is the fact that they won in 09'. But it is still horrible in my eyes. Stupid Phillies. They could have won without A-Fraud.

So heres his lines across from 06 when he was going to get his fat juicy contract. Solid numbers. Not bad.Definitely not horrible, but mediocre compared to steroid A-Fraud from Texas. 

 

Some people on here are raving that his numbers in 09 and how the Yankees could of potentially not even fathomed winning a WS without him. That's bullshit. Since he signed that contract everything slowly started declining. The only difference between this and Pujols, was the decent production in the first two years versus okay production from Pujols.

Nope. But Vladdy, you have hated the guy right from the beginning so continue to hate. Arod hasn't just underperformed compared to his contract, he has also been a cheater a liar and if the reports are correct he tried to pay to have evidence destroyed. Pujols has been injured. I would say that there is a huge difference between the two. I am guessing that if you were to ask a Yankee fan they would say Arod hands down. One more thing, Pujols had a down year last year, but it was far from awful, this year he has been hurt all year. You are grossly exaggerating how bad Pujols has been.

Sure you take arod off the 09 team and replace him with pena or jerry hairston or whoever wouldve played third, they still might win. We'll never know.

Look at you guys poo pooing one world series win. The angels have not two not three not four not five but one world series in 50+ years. The one world series that people use to defend scioscia 11 years later.

Oh I know we have only won one World Series, and I am pretty sure this will be Scioscia's last season as manager. So using your logic, wouldn't it make more sense to pay a large amount of money for guys like Pujols and Hamilton, with the thought of it improving your chances to win a second World Series? I am pretty sure that was Arte's thought process. Hamilton has been a train wreck in his first season with only a very good week or two, and Pujols has been injured all season and got off to a horrible start last year.

Absolutely. I'm looking back at arods first five years and seeing if what they got justified (to an extent) it.

I'm sure the thought process behind pujols and Hamilton was hope they perform to a level close to their peak and try to win it all. Five years into the pujols and Hamilton contracts, if they both have a year like arod had in 09 and lead the angels to a title, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
