Kind of wild the Astros have the worst ERA in the AL at this point, even if it is early in the season. 

Be interesting to see how things shape out over the next month and if teams start to stabilize but yeah, as of now the whole division has its share of vulnerabilities.

It's just more of that piling on that's been happening since that radio interview.

All I know is people were getting in line to bury him after he started 0-19, not seeing anywhere near the same number of people commenting on his doing a Rod Carew "hit them where they aren't" clinic since then.

Dude is made of glass but he clearly still has his bat-speed/batting eye and can still hit.

Small sample size, but Hader has ERA close to 9 and ironically the Dodgers have the sane amount of loses as us, with 8.

To be fair, they (Houston), had three 1-1 picks three years in a row and completely missed on two of them.  They've only hit on two guys outside of the top five picks in the first round.  They have had much better success in Latin America IMO.

Springer, Correa, McCullers, Tucker, and Bregman were a pretty good run though. Skunking on Appel and Aiken is kind of funny though.

Having not produced much with their first pick going back to ‘17 though has got to be a little worrisome for them…

Absolutely, but only two of those guys were taken outside of the top 5 picks in the draft, and they had an amazing 27 picks taken among the top 100 picks in their drafts from 2011-2018.  The Angels had 14 and none higher than 10th overall by comparison, so it' s hard to give them too much credit considering Houston was picking in the Goldilocks zone (top 5), and still missed a ton.  Where Houston has been really amazing is finding pitching talent in Latin America.  We likely never see the sort of turnarounds Houston and B-more enjoyed now that they made tanking to "win" harder.

Looking forward to seeing what the Angels do with their top 4 picks this year.  Wish it was a deeper draft.

I was advocating for the Angels to take the winter off and just develop the kids in 2024, thinking the division would be just way too tough between Texas, Seattle and Houston, but starting to look like the Angels could legitimately re-position themselves to be a true AL West threat for the next few years already within the next year if they have a strong draft, internal development and the other teams keep looking this vulnerable.

Didn't the Astros start piss poor last season, too? 

EDIT: Just looked it up. They weren't quite as bad as I remember. On April 17, 2023, they were 8-9. By the end of April they were above .500 and never looked back.
