One thing I noticed about Shohei when he was with the Angels was he really didn’t like being pitched inside, especially by lefties.  It really made him uncomfortable and antsy in the box.

Today against the Cardinals left hander Matz, he has done it twice to Ohtani, and both times Ohtani has struck out looking.  This should be required watching for opposing head coaches and pitchers.

I would rather have Thaiss for his versatility.  Bart is probably better behind the plate and Thaiss is a bit better offensively

The Angels don’t seem to be using Thaiss’ versatility anymore though.

Having said that, I’d be surprised if the A’s didn’t claim Bart so it’s probably moot.

I suppose they could try and jump the waiver process and trade for him, but that’s unlikely.
