Don’t forget you think you’d hit .200 in the bigs when there’s about 100% chance you wouldn’t.

Don’t forget you thought Pujols would retire well before his contract was up when there was about 100% chance he wouldn’t.

Ok. I admit when I’m wrong. You are constantly wrong. Oh and usually a giant piece.

I’ve been in the sign Bauer camp up to this point.

At this point though, whoever signs him would likely only get about 4 months of MLB game pitching tops from him.

Seems that he’d be a better fit on a contending team for 2024?   Like a mid-season acquisition?

Home Run Park is waiting for you...I'll hit 10/10 in the 90 cages before you hit one.

You lovable goofball.

And yet you aren’t hitting .200 in the bigs, absolutely zero chance.

An English translation of the Japanese newspaper article below.

Mexico Red Devils, who have a short-term contract with Trevor Bauer, who played last season for Yokohama DeNA, announced that they will extend his contract by one month.

In response to a press interview, DeNA's Team General Manager Hagiwara commented, "We have always had the intention of acquiring him and have been negotiating.  His agent told us about that, and we think it's unfortunate."

Hagiwara was informed in advance through Bauer's agent that there was a possibility of extending his contract. He currently has three wins in the Mexican League. The original contract deadline was the 8th.

Source in Japanese: Kanagawa Shimbun (a local newspaper in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan) on May 5th, 2024.

Source in Spanish: TREVOR BAUER SEGUIRÁ CON EL EQUIPO UN MES MÁS

Honestly, I don't understand what MLB has against Bauer.  He's served his time.  As far as the Angels are concerned, the team isn't going anywhere, so what harm can it do?

I'm pretty certain that Bauer can post better numbers than Suarez and Cisnero, and Sandoval can't seem to pitch more than four innings without throwing at least 90 pitches, so, why not sign him, and every time Sandoval pitches, they split the game.  Sandoval pitches 4 innings, then Bauer pitches the last 5, or vice versa.

Bauer has already volunteered to pitch at the ML minimum, so he'd only cost about 500K for the remainder of this season.

It isn’t tough to figure it out. There’s much more to the story than has been released.

Conversely, the team isn’t going anywhere, so what value would bringing him in possibly provide?

All the dudes who think white men are a marginalized demographic will feel vindicated.

No matter where you were on the situation, at this point there's no point for the Angels to bring him in.  These guys stink so an extra win or two (or whatever you think he'd do) won't do anything.

If he pitches well u can trade him

I was wondering how long it would take someone to chime in with this take. If anyone wanted him, they could essentially have him now for free. I highly, highly doubt a) that anyone is going to sign him, or b) that even if someone does sign him, he's not going to have any significant trade value later in the season.

No one wants him now, I doubt there will be much interest at the deadline even if he pitches well

Probably but if he was dominant that would change. I suspect he would only be average.
