The period in which new contracts and trades for NPB players can be made is until July 31st. After this, except for waiver transfers, no new player contracts, including foreign players, will be allowed.

Considering that he will give up his contract with an MLB team and sign with an NPB team, he will not be able to extend his contract with the Red Devils for another two months or more.

The deadline is approaching.

It's not like it would matter. He could go 7 innings, give up 2 runs, have 10 k's then either 1 of 2 situations arise after he exits the game:

1) Bats are cold that night and we lose 2-0

2) Bullpen is brought in and implodes allowing another 2-3 runs and we lose 5-4.

Or both, probably.

I can't think of a bigger desperation move than to bring in Bauer at this point. If the team is rebuilding then at least own that and try not to look stupid.

Try not to look stupid? I think a majority of us would agree, it's far too late for that. 

Will they look more stupider if the guy is an ace on the mound for us, when everyone else turned their back on him?

The team can still rebuild with him starting every 5 days. 

At least it would be something to look forward to...competitive fire on the mound...especially considering it's getting to the point where there's really no reason to even turn on the games.
