if he wanted to do that, why didn’t he make Montgomery interim manager when they fired Maddon?

I dont think Perry had as much of a grip on the organization when Maddon was fired, then i think he kept Nevin in for continuity purposes when Arte was assumed to be selling. I think theres enough of a disconnect between Nevin and Perry to break it off.

In any event, a 5-10 year rebuild is quite possible.

The team needs some really good baseball people to run things, top to bottom. A much better farm system too. The current plans aren't working.

Next season the only players on the roster for fielding, that didn't come out of the Angels farm, will be Rendon and Drury. Every other position is going to be filled by a player that was either drafted by the Angels or went first to their farm system by trade. 

Players over 30 Rendon, Trout, Drury, Ward

Players over 25 Rengifo, Thaiss, Moniak, Fletcher, Stefanic

Players under 25 Schanuel, O'Hoppe, Neto, Adell

That is a rebuilt team with only two high salaried contracts. The starting pitching side is nearly the same with only Anderson as the outsider that didn't come from the farm.

I'd honestly be happy if the FO took the Victor Rojas approach....
Let Arte, Perry and Nevin stay but do one thing.

Put a picture of Trout, Neto and O'Hoppe on the wall and tell everyone "If you don't want to win like these guy then get the hell out".

Release Rendon and put others on the hot seat. I'd be happy if that's all they did.

I think at some point we will hear that Nevin will be relieved of his duties.  Then the next manager will decide on his coaching staff with input from Perry.  That will probably be the end of Wise as well as Thames (I think that is the hitting coach).
