Is this something new? A Manager who “will tell you if you’re doing bad and will tell you if you’re doing good”

Is this something that literally no other big league manager would do? 😂

You’re kidding me…right Detmers?

😂😂

I didn't see that he claimed that it was unique or new. There are plenty of failed managers who did not communicate with their players other than to criticize them. One who comes to mind immediately is Bobby Valentine, who nearly triggered a player revolt in Boston.

It took Baltimore three years to turn a dumpster fire into the AL East champs….arguably the toughest division in baseball.

They did this with one of, if not the lowest payrolls in baseball.

It’s been what? EIGHT YEARS?

It shouldn’t take close to a decade to play over .500 ball.

Should it?  You think he’s got them on the right track? Really?

Playing .500 ball

I still say Minasian hand picked his ass.  He had all kinds of time last year at the end of the season to interview.  Did he even interview anyone?  If he didn’t …then that was his guy.

Nevin got an extension on the last day of the season of 2022.

Don’t tell me “Minassin had to extend him” or “because the team was up for sale” or blah blah blah.

Ohtani was healthy….Trout was due back.   Things were looking bright at the end of last season for 2023.  Weren’t they?

As bad as we’ve been….managing the 2023 Angel squad was a very very attractive job at the end of last season.

Even if the team was sold….if the manager had the needle pointing in the right direction new ownership would probably give the manager a nod of approval and a “show me” one year deal.

Minasian still had two years on HIS contract….and he still had a responsibility regardless of who owned the team to do “what was best for the team”

So he extended Nevin 😂😂😂

You get what you pay for….

😂😂😂😂

It’s been Eight Years since the team has played .500 ball.  I’m not even asking for a playoff spot.  Is .500 ball too much to ask for?

Why don’t you give Nevin ten years for 100 million?  There’s ball clubs out there lined up outside the door to acquire his services 😂😂😂

I get it….he’s “just a few years away” right?

You’re drinking the kool-ade dude…

Yea, you have no idea what you are talking about as it relates to Nevin, the sale of the team, and the restrictions placed on Minasian during the time the team was up for sale.  No manager worth a damn is taking a one year deal.  No team up for sale is giving out multi year deals to managers.

Well….to use your words “no manager worth a damn is taking a one-year deal”

Exactly my point.

How long was the contract Nevin signed?

one year …huh?

😂😂😂😂

Yet you think Nevin was MInasians guy.  Also I one year extension to a first time manager, removing the interim tag, is completely different than signing a manager to a one year deal.  Show me the list of managers that have signed one year deals to go to a new club.  I’ll wait.

Case is closed.  No manager worth a damn would sign a one-year deal.  Are you rescinding that statement? And if they extend him….it’ll be for another one year deal.  So that will be two times a manager who isn’t worth a damn signed a one-year deal.

Sure and are you going to get it through your thick skull that because of circumstance it doesn’t mean he is Minasian’s guy?  That because of circumstance that is who was brought back?  You ranted about “did he even interview anyone”.  You asked that because you were trying to prove he was Minasian’s guy.  It’s pretty ignorant to think that, you know, based on the circumstance.

Minasian had the chance last year to put “his guy” in.  And he has that chance again over the next couple of days…doesn’t he?

Why wouldn’t he want “his guy?”

Minasians job is on the line, too.

An interim manager who goes 46-60 morphs into “The second coming of Christ?”

Pleeeeeease….

It’s not our decision.  Let’s see what he does.  He doubled down….will he triple down?

You’d like to see the ball club play at least .500 ball ….JUST LIKE ME.

It shouldn’t take EIGHT YEARS….should it?

I’m a fan.  That’s all.  I have no skin in the game.  But I can connect the dots.

Nevin has basically had 1 and 2/3rds seasons to show “something” ….and I’m not seeing it.  Are you? Really?

Unless all along he’s been Minasian’s boy…..

Let’s leave this up to the powers that be.

Sometimes you’ve just “gotta trust the experts”

😂😂😂

If you’ve read anything I’ve posted I’m far from a Nevin fan. But pretending the circumstances aren’t the biggest factor in why he’s here is borderline retarded.

Injuries – Finally, Sarris looked at number of games missed per player per team due to injury. The Angels are second, and the Yankees are third, both with over 1,500 missed games. But the Dodgers also have more than 1,500 days missed, and they’re chugging along. The Orioles do fall in the top three luckiest here, with fewer than 800 days missed.

Something I was just thinking about is that even if the Angels went the tank method (which is not something I would ever want) now it really won’t help.  The team is a high revenue team which means they can’t draft in the top of the draft in consecutive years.

Clearly he was not in a position to enter into a long term contract with a manager, which has to be approved by the owner. When he didn't know who the owner was going to be, that cut severely into the window for finding another manager.

I'm not consuming any Kool-Aid, but I am a realist.

Just for the record, the Orioles were bad for far more than three years. So were the Astros.

The team was up for sale so he could not attract any manager with any resume of success to join a team in ownership transition.  If you are too dense to understand this then keep sayin what you're sayin. But you're wrong.

https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-draft-lottery-unlike-any-other

Are there any restrictions on which teams can participate in the lottery?

Yes. MLB’s system will have the most restrictions of the major sports and go further in reducing or preventing repeat winners.

Large-market teams (defined as teams that do not receive revenue sharing) are prohibited from receiving a selection in the lottery in consecutive years.

Small-market teams (revenue sharing recipients) are prohibited from receiving a selection in the lottery in three consecutive years.

Clubs that are ineligible to receive a lottery selection in future years due to these restrictions will be permitted to select no earlier than 10th overall.
