Vacation Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, I am looking to take a vacation in late October and I am looking for suggestions.  What I am looking for is somewhere warm, AZ, Hawaii (although I was just there a couple weeks back) and I am looking for a room/resort or even a AirBNB with a private pool.  My only concern is I want to be at a place where I can get home with in 12 or so hours, because we have a grandson that is due a couple weeks after that and we want to be able to get home in case she delivers early.  Let me know your thoughts.

You could caravan with the Angels during their playoff run.

If you go foreign.  Costa Rica.  Just watch out for the Gangster that is retired there, although the prices are like they are robbing you anyways.  And really not much to do there but sightsee the jungles.  Unless you go to the really touristy spots, then you might as well just go to Cabo.

Local, SD.

Go town hopping up the coast from SB, Vandenberg (if a rocket is going up) (into space you perv), Pismo, San Luis Obispo,  Big Sur, Monterey.

Las Vegas.  Rent a nice place by Red Rock with a view.  Then you can eat at the casinos.  If you want world class food, then Vegas is a pick em on places to eat.

Laughlin is still warm.  Although there isn't much to do there but gamble and rent a jet ski.

Tahoe might be nice.  Just after the summer crowd and just before the winter crowd.  But it might be getting colder.

Arizona if you like offroading and 2nd ammendment stuff.

I don't know what you're into... do you like museums?  Are you into hiking?  Fishing?  Is night life important?  Or are you just looking to relax and kick back, read a book, sip cocktails, etc.?

cabo is f*cking awesome and close. great food. great drinks. great people.

eat at edith's, el farallon at pedregal, manta at the cape hotel, anica at the gran solar and mestizo del mar.

and there's so many legit bars and lunch spots. makes sure to hit up the office on the beach.

tons of stuff like boozy sunset dinner cruises too. or just chillax and have great seafood and cocktails by the pool.

don't do an airbnb - what's the point of that? you gonna cook and make your own bed? pfft. f*ck that. it's a vacation. go somewhere w/ room service, restaurants, pools, spas, bars, etc (in my opinion at least).

Relax by some water, eat at great restaurants, a place where it’s safe to walk around and get lost.

I’ve never been, but I’ve heard great things about Albuquerque.

Third week of October is Helldorado Days in Tombstone, Arizona. They have shootouts in the streets but unlike Chicago, they use blanks.

But @Tank may not appreciate the pumpkin murdering contests, being a gourd lover.

Oh, yes, I did. We are most certainly not sunny or warm in October. Think, 'ship in a storm', and you'd be pretty close for most of it.

And yet you guys made the early Triumph Spitfire with a Boy Scout tent assembly for a roof and TR3's with no side curtains. It's as if the entire island is simply challenging the elements to a pneumonia contest.
