Dodger hate

Recommended Posts

So it seems like a lot or most of you hate the Dodgers? I’m curious why? My background is I’m 51, grew up in Long Beach rooting for both the Angels and Dodgers. I preferred the Angels but I also liked the Dodgers.

When my dad got tickets, we went to the Big A. If my grandpa got the tickets, we went to Dodger Stadium.
Just wondering if there are more like me or if most of you guys are just Angels fans.

A lot of the older people on this board were abused by Dodger fans in their youth.

Also the Dodgers are associated with Los Angeles, which is dirty, liberal and full of minorities.

It's a pain in the neck to try to get to Dodger Stadium especially on a weeknight. If they're sold out (54,000 seats) expect to spend an hour or more exiting the parking lot after the game. You can also be stabbed on the way to your car. The concession prices are outrageous. I could go on...

Angel Stadium, a much better experience overall.

I grew up in Bakersfield and the Dodgers had their single A team there. I grew up watching the Angels because of my dad and all my friends were Dodgers fans. In the 70s and early 80s, the Dodgers were good and the Angels not so much. My friends gave me a lot of grief about the Angels so I grew up hating the Dodgers!! And still have two favorite teams, the Angels and whoever the Dodgers are playing😂.

So I grew up hating the Dodgers, still don’t like them. I have two brothers, Paul (Dodger Fan) and Doug (Angel fan).  Paul was 10 years older than me Doug is 8 years older.  I was always closer to Doug so I grew up an Angel fan.  Paul passed away at the age of 44 and we buried him in a Dodger jersey I bought him that year for Christmas. Since then I haven’t hated the Dodgers. I only root for them if it benefits the Angels.

My dad taught me to hate Dodgers during building of Chavez Ravine. People were dragged out of their homes. O'Malley was a cheap owner and as soon as free agency started, he sold the team. My dad was an AL fan and came out here in 1958. If he had become a Dodger fan, I could have had so many wonderful years enjoying baseball. Then again, I would have never been on AW and enjoy the many friendships on AW. WHY DAD WHY?

I wouldn't blame the Dodgers for the Angels' self inflicted moves.

I liked it better when the Dodgers ownership didn’t know for sure the next paycheck would cash and the team was all messed up.  At least Arte is solvent- look Ma no debt.

It's more Dodger fans that I dislike than the Dodgers themselves.  I actually have great respect for how that org is run and I think Friedman is the best baseball exec there is.  I like watching Kershaw and Mookie.

I also tend to find that there is a ton of crossover between dog fans and USC fans.  So it gives me a bit of pleasure when that combo has to feel the pain of defeat.

I always went to Angel games when I was a kid because it was so much closer to the house when I grew up (5 - 10 minutes away). Rarely went to Doyer games, and even back in the late 90's the experience getting in and out, combined with Los Angeles traffic was absolutely horrid.

I was on the fence when I was growing up and was fine with the Doyers until 1998 when they traded Mike Piazza, broke my heart as a young kid, and then I was done. It was Angels for life after that.

Getting in and out of the stadium sucks, the fans suck and are obnoxious no matter where you see them (especially at away games), Los Angeles sucks because it's dirty and smells like piss and bums (I'll never understand the pride people from LA have). As far as the actual team itself, have to hand it to them, they know how to play baseball...but I just can't root for them.

The Angels would be cursed like the Red Sox were when Ruth when to the Yankees.

Pretty sure we already are...the curse of changing the team name to Los Angeles for money...
