Team ERA currently 3.90, 6th best in AL

Recommended Posts

At least the pitching has progressed this season.

Ohtani, Sandoval, and Detmers make for half of a really good rotation.

Suarez has had 3 solid starts in a row since tweaking the changeup and throwing the slider more often.   Granted, those 3 starts came against KC and Oakland.

Staff has allowed the 5th fewest HRs in the AL, and has the 4th most Ks.

Any starting pitcher acquired this off-season needs to be a RHP.  Already have enough LHPs.

Considering we were 12th last year with a 4.69 ERA, it's quite an accomplishment.

It's an improvement for sure and I'm happy with the direction they're going, but I'm not overjoyed just yet.

Seriously though they need to add 3-4 offensive pieces, including a RH 1B platoon partner who can play the OF too...

A starting MINF allowing Rengifo and Fletcher to platoon at 2nd and fill in at SS and 3rd.

A backup C who can actually hit.

Maybe a starting OF.

They do. Just because the offense is a shitfeast doesn't mean the pitching doesn't also need to be addressed.

I was making fun of the posters and twitter fans that only wanted pitching last offseason.

The pitching actually has been pretty good. Starters have been below 4 ERA all season, and that's with some suspect fill ins.

With a better offense this team would still be in the playoff hunt.

But they're 2nd in triples. I don't see the problem here
