If he cannot play again, he still gets his money

Generally true but I think it depends on how you retire.....if you are physically unable to play, yes....if you decide you don't want to play any more (Andrew Luck), I don't think so....how it effects the budget for luxury tax purposes, I'm not sure.....I do know that Arte hasn't purchased insurance in the past so it will be paid by the team if he is physically unable to play....

Asked if Trout could miss the rest of the season, Frostad said: “We hope not.

Translation:  Yes, with surgery next April, which makes him miss a year.

“He’s been a great teammate,” Angels manager Phil Nevin said.

Awesome - past tense already.

This is the Angels I remember - an occasional glimpse of hope, followed by freak injuries and, sometimes, worse.  🙏☠️

Ohtani needs to get out before he catches leprosy and his arms fall off

Can’t blame them now for trading Ohtani.

If they do, they better get a lot more back than the Marlins did for Cabrera.

How can one franchise have nothing but long term deals that backfire?

Pujols, Hamilton, Upton, Rendon, and now possibly Trout?

We should play the Royals more often.  Poor throw on a come backer results in a run scoring and Velazquez getting to third, then an Ohtani single.
 4-0 Angels.

I think you posted in the wrong thread.

Either way that lob that went 20 feet over the first basemans head into right field was hilarious.

It’s worth revisiting the fact that the Angels front office wanted to move Mike Trout to a corner OF spot this season— and were going to have a discussion about it with Trout behind the scenes— but their plan got foiled when Joe Maddon spoke about it at the start of Spring Training when talking to reporters before the Angels broached the idea to Trout.

After that, they let Trout stay in CF out of respect for him.

So you now go in a different direction. Take the Tampa route. No more long term 200 mill plus deals and that includes Ohtani.
