At least he has three 2.5+ fWAR seasons.

Wade and Velazquez don’t even sniff that number for their entire careers.

I’m not saying he’s gonna perform to those levels, because he’s not, but he at least has shown that he can be an above average player before unlike those two.

I’ll be honest.  I just got to Chicago for 2 weeks and of course (always my luck) the Cubs dropped Villar right before I got here and it ruined my trip.  Now that I get to see him when I get home?  Redemption!

Also even though this says claimed, he was released by the Cubs, so this is likely a minor league deal.

villar was one of the cheaper signings i thought they missed out on in the offseason, so i'm certainly not upset they claimed him. he's been a good player in his career. hopefully, he's not toast.

edit: i forgot to say, " too bad the season is already lost." standard operating procedure for the angels under arte.

^^^ That's the difference.....he has had some success....none of the MI/3b guys on the roster now have, with the possible exception of Duffy....and Duffy has, at best, been an ok/average type...Rengifo shows promise at times and Velasquez is lights out on defense but Villar, at his best, has been pretty good........Is he through?  The Cubs thought so....we'll see but worth a shot.....

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Villar actually does a solid job for the halos.  League avg defense and better than avg offense.
