Angels select Cooper Criswell (starting tonight), recall Naughton, option Wong and Hoyt

I really like Cooper Criswell. Everything about him says he's probably a Quad-A guy but I am holding out hope that he can be more. I thought he would hit a wall with his stuff once he reached Triple-A but he's striking out guys at even a higher clip (11.95 K9 through 20.1 innings). When he's on every pitch practically dances.

Criswell, Warren and Wantz kind of snuck in to the picture….all have had pretty good minor league numbers….maybe we’re starting to develop pitchers a little….and we’ll have 20 new ones next year…..

Well...let's hope that Criswell can show us something tonight to give us even more reason to be optimistic for the future. That, seemingly, is telling us that we're still a few years away from being competitive...

He’s going to have to average better than 87.2mph to have a chance at this level.

Criswell is not nearly ready to come up. It's just that we're running out of pitchers so he was called up here out of desperation. He could use another year or two in AAA.

He threw some good pitches tonight. Definitely showed some promise. Ultimately a back end of the rotation guy, though.
