Buckner was a good defensive 1B too. But that play still happened. When a QB gets a season ending injury do teams say whatever that was just 1 bad play?

Catchers are treated differently cause they are supposed to take care of the pitchers over their own results. You could say that play would have happened to any good catcher, Molina/Perez/etc. 

But Stassi dropped it, panicked and made a terrible throw. If Stassi drops it and makes a normal throw Ohtani doesn't get hurt and it's just a bad play. But the panic throw is two bad plays in one pitch and might derail our key man after he finally was getting on track without any interruptions.
