Terry Smith just said that frozen rope that I think one-hopped the wall "fell in."  Glad we have him to describe the action!

 

edit: And now just said a guy struck out after missing an 0-1 pitch, at which point the next pitch was the 3-2 pitch.

...and just called strike 3 on someone when it was strike 2.   He also said a count was "3-2" when it was in fact 0-2.

I honestly don't know what he's watching when he's calling this stuff. Tonight, I forgot who was pitching but they threw a high fastball, about chest high, that was called for a ball and he described the pitch as "low"

Yep, I noticed that one, too.  I used to think that people criticizing him for stuff like this were exaggerating--but I'm fully on board with it as legit critique now.

Yep, so far this spring it's just been him. Mota does a few minutes of pre- and post-game with a rotating host.

I had actually never heard Terry Smith before.

He has a good voice. That was a good call.

He’s not even Ross Porter or Jerry Doggett, let alone Vin Scully.

Terry has a hard time with things such as the count, the outs, who is batting, and if the play was out or safe.  But he is good with telling a story that drags out for 3 or 4 hitters, though...so we have that going.

I've heard for decades now, board members bragging about how Arte made this a large market team.  So much of this organization screams small market.  Every single part of their broadcasting screams.. well I won't say small market, because some small markets are good.  

The radio station sucks.  The 'face' of the radio, Roger Lodge, sucks.  Terry Smith sucks.  Gubicza sucks (I understand others like him).  Jose Mota is so bad, he is actually good.  But otherwise, there is nothing about the entire presentation that reflects "large market".

i'm okay with terry on the radio, but i think he was a lot better as the color guy to rory and not the play by play guy.
