On a side note, Albert now has a 107 career wRC+ for the Angels. A sampling of players with career wRC+ of 107:

Eric Thames, Eric Hosmer, Dexter Fowler, Carl Everett, Shannon Stewart, Rondell White, Sid Bream, Chase Headley, Edgardo Alfonzo, Ian Kinsler, Jeff Conine, Brandon Moss, Kevin Maas, Orlando Merced, Tommy LaStella, Lou Piniella, Candy Maldonado, Mike Cameron, Gregg Jefferies, Melvin Mora, Pedro Alvarez.

Meaning, a list of slightly above average hitters. That's a veritable Hall of the Kinda Good, with one or two Hall of the Very Good (e.g. Cameron, Kinsler).

His career Angels fWAR of 6.3 isn't quite as forgiving:

Don Drysdale (a pitcher), Tom Glavine (another pitcher), Steve Carlton (one more), Glenn Braggs, Deion Sanders, Mike Redmond, Eli Marrero.

A few others, but those are the only names I recognized. A Hall of the Forgettable, other than the pitchers.

If I was a Major League Baseball player, I would absolutely love it, at the end of my career I am near the leaderboard in GIDP.  It would mean, I’m probably a hall of famer.

Sure, Deion was memorable because of the two-sport thing, his athleticism, and his career in broadcasting. But as a baseball player, pretty forgettable. He was good in 92 and pretty good for a year or two before and after, but basically just a hyped part-time player.

I realize it's not realistic but it would be really good if the Halos could somehow convince Albert to bow out gracefully. They'd still pay him, mind you so he wouldn't lose an cash out of it. But at least he wouldn't be taking the place of someone who could factor into the future of the club.

Besides, what does he have left to play for? He's fifth (third if you don't count cheaters) all-time in homers but he's not going to move up beyond that. 700 is also out of the question now. And there are no other significant milestones left that he can reach.

As for the matter of a "farewell tour", his luck is rotten but that's not going to be happen either. It's a fair bet that a significant portion of 2021 will be played without fans in the seats and a stone-cold certainty that no parks will have full occupancy allowed for most of the season if not all of it. So it sucks for him but the end of his career just so happens to coincide with a global health crisis. Like I said, rotten luck...

^We've been talking about that for a few years, but the problem is that no one has stepped up to provide adequate offense at 1B. That seems to have changed with Walsh, so I expect Albert to see his time further reduced, as a occasional starter, pinch hitter, and "clubhouse presence." He played a hair under two-thirds of the games this year, extrapolated to about 105 over a full season. Maybe next year he plays in about half the games, with half of those being starts and the other pinch-hitting. That would be about 200 PA.
