1 person 1 vote, seems fair to me.

Wyoming gets 1 electoral vote for every 192,579 persons in the state.

California gets 1 electoral vote for every 719,272 persons in the state.

New York gets 1 electoral vote for every 673,793 persons in the state.

Not only that, with the winner takes all even if one party loses the popular vote by 1 vote, the other party walks off with the electoral votes; seems fair...

3 Electoral votes to 55. You are probably the kind of asswipe that cheers on Alabama to score 70 pts against a 1-AA team that managed to put up one field goal in 4 quarters of play.

The whole point of democracy is to find a fair balance not empower the largest group with every decision. What you really want is Socialism that only caters to one authoritaive voice. Not a representative government of all peoples.

You'd think California cons would be excited if the electoral college was done away with. Then their vote in California would actually mean something.

Actually, there are only a handful of states where voting matters.

In before Adam says voting is gay.

This is probably the most significant of the many problems with the electoral college.  It basically makes a handful “swing states” the only places where a vote matters at all.  It’s a terrible system today and it doesn’t balance shit.

None of the original purpose for its creation means anything anymore.

This. It's even worse when my fellow Christians believe he stands for Christian values.

They’re not Christians.  Tons of these people are ethno nationalists and their “Christianity” is just part of what goes along with that.  There’s nothing Christ like about these hogs squealing with joy over their MAGA dog shit.

This is true for many, many people. It's not true for many of family members and friends who I know are genuine Christians, but they're terribly misinformed when it comes to politics.

Misinformed as in they have no idea what Trump and the GOP actually say and do ? I can accept that’s true for some.  I think we agree it’s not true for most.

There are two camps of Christian Trump supporters in my circle.

1. People who admit they don't like the guy, think he's obnoxious, etc., but believe he's better than the alternative—what they perceive as a legitimate threat by the Democrats to erode on their way of life and their freedoms. I know that might sound ridiculous, but that's their fear. They voted for Trump primarily because of the Supreme Court. They thought Hillary and the Dems would stack the court with justices who would chip away at religious freedom. They'd be willing to consider voting against Trump in 2020 (or not voting at all) if the Dems nominated a candidate who was more of a centrist.

2. People who buy in to the whole "the MSM is evil" narrative. They don't think Trump is perfect, but they equate his brash attitude with strong leadership. In my opinion, they see what they want to see. Rather than seeing Trump's tirades as immature and dangerous, they see a politician who is finally standing up against the liberals, the MSM, and other groups that don't have America's best interest at heart. They take what Trump says at face value and truly believe that he wants to put America first and stand up for Christian values.

See this is the thing that really bothers me.  I don’t believe these people when they say stuff like this.  I just don’t.

They’ll call Biden a “socialist” and all these people will buy it.

all Trump cares about is the money they are making for him and to feed his narcissistic personality.

Forbes estimates that his net worth has declined since he took office.

He is also probably less popular than ever to mainstream audiences.

If he cared about those things more than any other, don't you think those trends would be going up instead of down? You said yourself, he's not dumb.

So ridiculous to think Democrats will erode freedoms. /s

Lots of republicans do too (though not nearly as many as the dems), by the way, Dems are just more open and straightforward about it.

Trump is smart when it comes to manipulating people. I would never say Trump is a good businessman so the fact he’s losing money is of no surprise. In fact I know he’s a pretty shitty one if you know his history. But he’s smart enough to make people think he is.

That doesn’t mean he still doesn’t try to make money off gullible people. See Trump University.

Or maybe it’s just reality that a certain class of people who possess access to incredible wealth are literally unable to “fail” in any meaningful way.  There’s no consequences for these people.  When they fuc*k up they just move on to the next thing.  It’s how the whole thing is set up.

Trump supporters don't want a centrist, they just want someone that will make their hateful rhetoric from the middle ages okay as long as "their side is winning".  They are mostly poorly educated, disenfranchised and have no idea that Trump could give as much of a shit about them as he does about immigrants and minorities.   To see Trump as just "obnoxious and annoying" is putting on the biggest blinders possible as to the disgrace that has been his presidency.  He's vile, openly and brazenly racist, has multiple sexual assault allegations, has created essentially internment camps at our borders, stokes hate and aggression at every opportunity, is a dictator apologist, has zero knowledge of or respect for the constitution, and is an international embarrassment who has put us backwards on the world stage tenfold.  To think he stands for Christian values (or ANY values for that matter) is completely laughable.

Anyone that can watch him speak or go through his Twitter feed for more than 10 minutes and still support him as a competent world leader of the United States is severely flawed in a fundamental way.
