Some people just don't appreciate tough love. It's easy to commend someone for losing two pounds of water weight knowing they will just put on five pounds of fat the following week. If you really want to help a person make a real life saving change you have to be brutally honest with them about their problem. 

If I get put in timeout occasionally for caring too much, that's the price I'm willing to pay. I'll never even ask him to thank me.

Five pounds in a week is pretty good.

Yes occasionally I have to use that approach with the wife’s cooking.
