Morikawa has a longer than he wanted par putt coming up but at least he got out of that weed patch. Such a hard chip shot that could have gone disastrous.

What a brilliant finishing round by Morikawa. He handled the pressure of Spieth charges, kept most of his drives out of trouble, handled a few tough shots around the greens and made all of his par putts. Very impressed by his play.

His game seems better suited for the championship rounds. He doesn't crush the ball so he's likely to get out scored on easier courses that don't penalize errant shots as much. I could see him wearing a green jacket in the near future, securing a US Open title as well.

we had the funeral for my brother in law today so I missed almost all of the final round. looking forward to watching the replay tomorrow as it sounds like this was a terrific Sunday.

So Morikawa is the first male player to win two majors the first time he played in them (British Open and the PGA). He also has won more tournaments (5) than missed cuts (4). And as if that isn’t impressive enough, he played the last 30 holes of the British Open bogey free.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Here are the Ryder Cup standings with just over a month until the remaining team members are selected after the BMW Championship in late August.

Morikawa, Johnson, DeChambeau, Koepka, and Thomas have pretty much clinched spots.

The last automatic spot is a close race between X-man and Spieth.
