Bonds definitely doesn’t count. He’s in his own category.

Unpopular opinion but Trout isn’t even close to as good of a player as Bonds was. Even before the roids.

uhh.....wasn't even close? Most categories not only was he close he was better...

Absolutely.

Specially coming off a WS win two years ago. To me, the Angels need to hold on to Adell and Marsh. Their window to win is 2021-2024. Not 2020.

No, the window is now.
There is zero reason for it not to be.  Everything we need is out there and the kids are ready to contribute or close enough that its time to make the move into contention.

Bonds began using steroids prior to the 1999 season, his age 34 season.

And yes if you compare their OPS in their 20's Trout is clearly the better hitter.

Trout age 22 through 27 - .939/.991/.991/1.071/1.088/1.083

Bonds age 22 through 27 - .821/859/.777/.970/.924/1.080

So @Bronson got this one terribly wrong.

I didn’t say better hitter. I said better player.

Adell, Marsh and Fletcher should all be untouchable.Marsh could very well be better than Adell, those two with Trout is an incredible all around outfield. Fletcher is just a solid player who brings so many intangibles to the club. The Angels can’t afford Bryant. I would love to see what it would take to acquire Caratini.

This right here. After the AFL, it seems Marsh could surpass Adell (less the power). Marsh might be ready 2021. I'd see what I could get for Adell now.

Got it. I think it's obvious Trout is better than Bonds through age 27. What is your case for Bonds being a better player? Is he a better outfielder than Mike Trout? No.

What is your case? I'd like to hear it.

Okay for one he WAS a better outfielder. How many gold gloves does Trout have? Bonds has 8. He’s had a negative dwar like 2 or 3 times. Bonds had never had a negative dwar in his 21-28 seasons. So I would say Bonds is a better defender. Bonds was faster on the bases and had way more stolen bases then Trout had during the same age years and Bonds had a much stronger throwing arm.

So Trout beats him out in hitting (not by that much) and bonds beats him in everything else. Yeah I think that makes Bonds a better player.

I think you may be confusing more ready, with better.
Right now, Marsh might be the better of the two and be the better chance to open '20 in RF, BUT... i doubt we have that same conversation in lets say 2 years.
IF we even consider trading either of them, it needs to be for a no brainer that also makes financial sense., such as a controllable young amazing catcher

Bonds played in an era where Gold glove wasn't specific to his position. Top 3 outfielders won gold gloves, so that point is irrelevant.

Stole more bases, yes.... but the era plays a huge role in that.

Who steals anymore?

Where are the Vince colemans now?

New here...Why so much talk about Bonds? Back to crazy trades. Have not read through the whole thread, but think it is with it to trade Adell, Cozart (cash) and possible additional player-s and draft pick for Betts as long as long as Betts extends. Consider the line up? Would there be a better line up in baseball? Then add Cole and possibly Wheeler ....Have not seen it here, but do not forget Betts is also a gold glove.....His age lines up with Trouts which is also important.....Adell might take two more years. I am not willing to wait.....

Willie McGee can spend an hour talking about paper straws.

I hate paper straws.

Don't get me started on straws.

Too late...

So... We're at a restaurant Sunday and we ask for straws... our server brings two over, holding them with her dirty hands and sticks them right into our drinks.  I wanted to take the straws and jam them into her eye sockets.
