The Mariners staff is falling apart

Second Base

Recommended Posts

Edgar Martinez turns down a chance to return first. Scott Brosius also has opted to not return despite being invited back. Accusations of racism, sexism in the front office. Reports of clubhouse unrest and even a fight between Jean Segura and Dee Gordon. And also, a pretty epic second half collapse. Worst of all, Servais and Dipoto both scored extensions.

That team, talented as it may be, may be reaching shit-show status. How long before it all comes crashing down?

Eagerly awaiting the pics of Dipoto exiting the building with a fu*cking box packed with his shit.  You know, like a small potted plant and picture of himself.  100% without letting anyone else know.

He will be very upset that he has been undermined.

And a stack of unused iPads.

They're under contract, they aren't going anywhere, but little by little, people are beginning to realize who Servais and Dipoto are, and what they're incapable of doing. This will soon turn into a nightmare for Mariners fans. The club will fall off a cliff next season, Dipoto will keep trying to get ownership to buy his way out of this mess. Come 2020, Servais will be thrown under the bus and fired and Dipoto will be forced to begin the fire sale, except by then, the current players he does have will have either expired contracts or less controllable time, which means they won't generate much value on the market, and with nothing left on the farm, the Mariners will be stuck between a rock and a hard place. By 2021, M's ownership will have lost faith in him and will significantly hamper what he can and can't do in free agency and trades. Dipoto will throw a tantrum when not given complete control and he'll walk out on the Mariners in 2021/2022.

But he'll make darn sure his contacts in the media that he himself leaks news to, will spin the story that Dipoto has been dealing with uncooperative ownership and he'll come out being portrayed as the good guy. But he won't get another job in baseball, not after teams see the track record. Two farm systems destroyed, two bloated payrolls. No playoff success. Two fights with management.

He might find a media job and probably will be good at it, or at least entertaining. But he'll go down as probably the worst GM of his his own generation. But possibly the best salesman.

no way in hell dipoto and servais make it out of this alive if this turns out to have substantial merit. i don't care  how long their extensions are, the M's would be opening themselves up to major scorn and lawsuits, and they're already likely to face the latter. they can't be seen as accepting of that culture. dipoto and servais are dead, in any scenario other than she is proven to have completely fabricated her story.

The more I hear about the carnage this guy leaves in his wake, the more I realize how lucky we got that he walked away.  While we complain about how bad he was and how we are still recovering, clearly, it could have been far worse.

Remember how much a lot of us turned on sosh when dipoto walked away? I was guilty.

Dipoto is just a wrecking ball

well, now we're getting a little corroboration. this is interesting. if this story continues to build and spread, then dipoto and servais are done in baseball forever.

The Atlantic article where a Lakers source claims she was difficult to work with also quotes a source in Seattle saying they share her thoughts on Dipoto...

Sexual harassment is against the law.  Any corporation worth a damn would have a contract clause voiding a contract due to sexual harassment.

I missed the part about sexual harassment.  I see discrimination, but not harassment.

Regarding DiPoto and Servais, i don’t see why their contracts would be an issue at all here.  How much can each really be making?  Neither was in demand when hired, and the extension for DiPoto was probably more of gesture than a substantial raise. Colleges fire football coaches with larger buyouts than was they are probably owed....

That was other people including the guy they promoted to CEO after he got popped and admitted to it.     If they saw no issue with the claims of improper behavior (they paid settlements to the women), it makes you wonder what if anything will happen in this case where there seems to be more he said, she said to it.

Eff Lookout Landing. Because one of their bloggers broke all the press box rules one night, I got my longstanding press creds pulled from Safeco Field. Only known team beat writers and MLB, FoxSports & ESPN's of the world were allowed after that.

Oh and, EWOK sighting!
