I am not whelmed if the trade does not include McNeil. I'd rather just keep Cano at that point.

Deal looks pretty good now if I'm the Mets. Losing Kelenic hurts but we've seen how pricey stud closers have been on the trade market, and Diaz is just 24 and still cheap so it makes sense. With them unloading Bruce/Swarzak's contracts and only taking on $60 million on CAno's deal.....the Mets really just end up having Cano for 3yr/$36 million in total. Of course, that money will be paid during Cano's age 38-40 seasons, and he likely won't even be worth that, but it's a lot more palatable.

The Yankees got four players (two top 100 guys), including Gleyber Torres who had morphed into a top 10 guy when he was traded, and a MLB RP with two years of control (Adam Warren), for 2+ months of Chapman.   

If this deal goes down as stated (with Bautista), then the best player going to the M's is basically what Billy McKinney was when he was sent to the Yanks... that's not a slam -- just that he was the second best player in the Chapman trade.  When you consider the 4 years of control with Diaz it seems like a waste of an asset just to move a salary for a player that is still actually producing.  I get the whole move a player too soon rather than too late thing -- but, undermining your own assets to try to rid a salary seems counter productive.   

Gonna wait this one out til all the info is out.   Can't imagine the M's would take this much money and not hold out for more in terms of prospect currency.

Matt Davidson will be non-tendered. He’d be a great bench option, hits lefties very well and get work as an RP too

As a backup outfielder on a team with slow moving assets like Pujols he would be a nice pick-up at the right price. Only problem is that he hits RHP better than LHP which is not quite what we need. However that speed would turn a Pujols single into a potential run.
