Gabe Kapler named in a wild report about the FBI's investigation into the Dodgers (politics removed)

It would be glorious if they found several teams guilty of violations and turned a bunch of prospects into free agents yet excluded any team that committed those violations.  It would actually be vindication for Arte taking the high road while all those inappropriate signings were taking place if we were to be one of a very few teams that stayed out of this mess and signed a bunch of those players.  It would also be great to see a bunch of those teams get locked out of international signings for a decent period and forfeit their pool money.

I wonder what happens if a team is found to have been in violation yet they've already traded said prospect that put them in violation.

BTW, the top 4 prospects in baseball are foreign signings.  And about 25% of the top 100

It would be a major upheaval if teams like the Dogs, Yankees, Rangers, Padres, Phils, Rays, Cubs, Jays and Astros were all found to have been involved.  Those are the teams with the most top international signings.

I can't imagine it getting to that level, but it very well could.

This is getting a tad more interesting...

https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/10/02/fbi-investigation-mlb-atlanta-braves-los-angeles-dodgers  Man -- those email's make it clear they knew exactly what was happening....

Makes the Braves situation seem innocent by comparison.

Human Trafficking and RICO?

Wow.

"The human trafficking described in the SI piece is probably enough to constitute a predicate offense for purposes of RICO, and RICO carries stiffer penalties (20-year prison sentences) than even the FCPA does. What do we mean by human trafficking? For most people, the term denotes the illegal kidnapping and sale of people for sex. And while that’s part of it, the practice is used to other ends, as well. Human trafficking is, at the most basic level, the trade of humans, smuggling them from place to place for labor, sex, or money."

Those involved (whether it be Kapler, Friedman, or whomever) would be lucky to JUST receive a lifetime ban.

Man, this seems like it’s not a big enough story.

Possibly because it's still just under investigation, but as facts get out and things become more definite this likely becomes a major story.   The playoffs are likely helping to keep the coverage down.

So here is the scenario. The Dogers win the World Series, the Feds arrest Freidman and company on RICO charges and Manfort decides to vacate their win (see USC National Championship) and free all of the players involved from their current contacts while giving the Dodgers a five year ban on any international free agents and forced to sell the team.

Complete chaos and hummiliation for the Dodgers, what more could an Angels fan want?

The only thing I would change is that the Dodgers not win the WS.  I don't want to them to enjoy the victory, even if it's for a short time.

What an absolute joke that the Braves GM lost his job. There are clearly guys that are guilty of worse stuff. I wonder what will happen to Andrew Friedman and Farhan Ziedi

Freidman sent to a pound you in the ass prison and Zaidi deported back to his third world country of origin, Canada.

Don’t be shocked if nothing happens.  This is  the Dodgers we’re talking about.  They’ve been dirty in the international game for 2 decades or more.

It does call into question Kendrys Morales eventual arrival on the Angels payroll. There is literally no one left of that staff on the Angels but how exactly did he get from Cuba to the Dominican Republic, along with citizenship if not paid for by somebody else?

Shhhh....

Don't...say...anything!
