I grew up a white sox fan and liked hawk for his dedication to the team but in terms of announcing he was pretty bad. He was way too emotional about the team to be a good announcer. 

Often times when things weren't going well for the sox hawk would just stop talking, live on air, with dead silence for often minutes at a time.
