Jaime Barria Appreciation

I love the way this guy pitches: fearless, gritty, and smart. His stuff is merely pretty good (although with some excellent breaking pitches sometimes), but he just knows how to pitch. 

Assuming he's pulled after 7, his line for the year is now: 25.1 IP, 7 walks, 20 strikeouts, 2.13 ERA in 5 starts.

Oh yeah, 21 years old.

Fernandomania wasn’t the hardest thrower either.   But like Barria, he was mature for his years and unfazed by pressure.

In the grand scheme of things, this was one loss to the Astros, but a big win for Barria. He looked great against the World Champs and one of the strongest offenses in baseball (on paper) and did more than hold his own. He certainly looks like he's here to stay.

What a waste of a  beautiful start by Barria. We made it to the game last night, and early enough to watch him warm up. His focus and confidence is great. Very Unfortunate that the bullpen continues to give games away so easily in later innings.

Bummer not to get a win out of a performance like that.  I want this guy to get as many wins as possible before he gets dehydrated.

It's just part of how they'll manipulate the roster all season long to accommodate Ohtani's schedule and their 6-man rotation plans. Barria has obviously cemented himself as one of their starters now and should be on track for 20+ starts.

Yeah I understand that. Will make his next start in SL then be back up after I'm sure. I guess I'm still annoyed that he didn't get the W yesterday when he should have and is "being sent down" the day after.

Am I the only one dreading seeing Paredes, after how he stunk it up here earlier?    He clearly needs another year in the minors.
