Angels pool money:  $6,984,400  x 5% = $349,220 (amount available to go over with only a monetary penalty at 75% tax rate)

total spend available:  $7,333,620

total spend on top ten picks:  $6,969,000

total overage on picks 11-40:

11: +$272,500
12: +$72,500

total: $345,000

total spend vs. pool:  $7,314,000

amount left: $19,620

11 picks left unsigned.

6 listed as HS SR
1 JC J1
1 4YR SO
1 4YR JR
2 4YR SR

No chance on the HS kids
the JC guy and one of the 4yr SR already committed to go back (redshirt for the SR presumably)

Isaiah Campbell is listed as a JR for Arkansas but he's actually a redshirt SO and took the loss in the final game of the CWS.  He was also ranked 109 pre draft and picked 721 so he's going back.

Mitchell Miller is the 4yrSO from clemson.  doubtful he signs.

Wade Bailey a 4thSR from Gtech - he played 4 full seasons so not sure what the hold up is for him.  5'9" 2bman with a .958 ops his jr yr and .850 ops sr year.  Only thing I can think of is that he's considering hanging it up.  All I can say is give it a shot kid.  You'll regret it if you don't.  Put a chip on your shoulder and get on a plane.

Pretty happy with how they did on the signings -- first 21 picks all signed, 27 of the top 30.   Not bad at all.

really wanted Campbell.  knew we have a very slim chance of getting him.  He'll probably be a 2nd rounder next year.

Ditto -- he's the big miss but, another chance to grab him next year.  Been looking at how other teams spent their money -- pretty interesting differences from team to team.  The biggest takeaway is that when Billy said every penny would be used -- he wasn't kidding.

every team probably has their first 5 picks narrowed down to 1 of 3-5 guys.  One of which is safe and under budget.  Like if the halos don't get English at 5, they probably pick some higher upside guy at 6.  etc. That's why there's 30 people in the war room on draft day.

Angels could've drafted him this year to make that introduction and have a relationship going into next year's draft too. Doesn't work out that way often but it didn't hurt.
