Stats for the relievers Eppler took in this years draft..

6th round Austin Warren - Orem 6.1 IP 5 ER

                                             - Burlington 9.2 IP 3 ER

7th round Andrew Wantz - Orem 6 IP 0 Er

                                              - Burlington 6.2 IP 3 ER

8th round Tyler Smith - Orem 16.1 IP 5 ER

9th round Jake Lee - Orem 14 IP 3 ER

10th round Ben Morrison - Orem 15.1 IP 14 ER

20th round Kyle Tyler - Orem 16.2 IP 7 ER

21st Round Christia Reyes - AZL 3.1 IP 10 ER (I think this was the kid they literally found in a Sunday league)

27th round Jacob Voss - AZL 3 IP 0 ER

                                           - Orem 7.2 IP 5 ER

30th round Connor Higgins - AZL 12 IP 8 ER

Interesting strategy by Eppler taking 5 RPs in top 10 to be able to pay the rest and take some flyers on HS kids in 5th, 11th round, 12th round. Maybe he figured he had to play it safe knowing he had to pay Adams and the kid in the 5th. I don't have the stats but I'm sure taking positional college players rounds 6-10 is under 5% chance they make the league? And even lower to have a big impact

Im guessing he hopes just one of these guys hits and if one does its a success. 2 of them already in A ball

nice observation and good thing to discuss.  a lot of it has to do with risk management and pool cost control.  The odds of a player making it to the majors and providing significant contribution after the 5th round is very low.  trying to find where I read it, but statistically, there is no difference in odds from rounds 6-20.  So why not save pool money and grab guys who have a shot at pitching late in games? It's similar to how he approaches pen arms in general.  Volume with a couple of traits that our development team can figure out how to make work.
