Rays blanking the Rangers again, in the eighth, 4-0. Snell only goes five and throws 69 pitches, but is in line for win #20. Dont know if he was lifted for an injury.

This is the Tampa Bay Way, I guess.

It could happen.

Rays have seven games against Toronto and four against NYY, plus the final game of this series against the Rangers. A's have five against the Angels, three against the Twins and three against the Mariners. But even if the A's go 5-6, the Rays would have to go 11-1 just to tie them or 12-0 to finish ahead of them.

Rays continue to set the American League mark for longest streak that a starter did not pitch a complete game. Now 440 games and counting. That's over 2.5 seasons! The MLB record is 480 by Miami a few years ago. Given that Cash will continue as their manager next year, they should break that record, too.

Amazingly, the leaders in complete games this season are tied with TWO complete games! How the game has changed.

I think the A's still pull it out but it would be nice to contribute in any way to their losing the AL West crown.

Snell or Sale for AL Cy Young?

Cash is now in the AL MOTY discussion?    They have an 84-66 record, despite that payroll?   And despite not having much rotation depth after Snell, and not having the greatest bullpen either?    Mallex Smith has become a dangerous leadoff hitter.   And former Halos' Choi (.882 OPS in 150 at bats) and Cron (.800 OPS) have contributed to their success in 2018.

I would definitely pick Snell.  He's thrown 19 more innings (169 inn) and has 20 wins.  Those are two things he has going for him.  Sale with 150 inn, and 12 wins.  Snell should be leading by a step.

Snell's control was a little spotty in the 1st half.   But in the 2nd half, he's had stellar command.   They've also limited his innings some, throughout the year.

Make that 8 to 2 after a Beltre home run. Hey, what about Beltre as a free agent third baseman? Sure he's old, but he still is playing well. Probably last more games than Donaldson it third.
