Unfortunately for Simmons (and Trout too, for that matter) nobody is watching or really cares much. This play came in the 9th inning  of a sold out, nationally televised,  must win to keep 1st place, game in September.

It's like the proverbial tree falling in the forest with nobody around to hear it.

There were 30 games under .500 last season and haven't been even decent since 2011.  They've had a pretty good year at 74-70 so far.

However, due to the fact that the Yanks and A's were 3-3, head-to-head, the Yankees own the second tie-breaker over the A's for HFA. The A's must finish one game ahead of the Yankees to get HFA.
