Didn't see this posted. Looks like it will be 6 total mound visits for a 9 inning game, which includes visits from the catcher or any other player. 1 additional visit per inning for extra inning games. A pitching change must still occur on the 2nd visit of the inning. This seems like a pretty big change. After the 6th visit, the Umpire has discretion to allow additional visits by the catcher following a cross-up. Commercial breaks have also been shortened by 20 seconds.

Interesting quote. The way I'm interpreting the article, that could result in the Angels being forced to make a pitching change. If he does that twice in the same inning, or if he does it after another player or coach already visited the mound in that ining. I am curious if that's really the case:

"That means going forward, a mound visit will include visits by coaches and managers, as well as visits by other players. If the catcher goes to the mound, it counts as a visit. If an infielder goes to the mound, it counts as a visit. Also, the second mound visit of an inning requires a pitching change. That remains the same"

So it's the 11th inning, runner on first with no outs. Catcher goes out to calm the pitcher down. Visit 1.

Since you are only allowed 1 visit per extra inning, all of the remaining visits have to be a pitching change.

So the pitcher walks the second batter. Runners first and second. manager goes out. Pitching change.

New pitcher strikes out batter. one out.

Pinch hitter comes in and now the catcher/manager can't go out and talk to the pitcher about how to pitch to the pinch hitter without making a pitching change. Kinda lame.

so now we'll see teams using more signs, which will lead to more sign stealing, which will eventually lead to armageddon.
