What I imagine is that Eppler is probably negotiating multiple deals for 2B, will pit them against one another, and ultimately go with the most value.  He's savvy like that

Altuve, Asdrubal Cabrera, Descalso, Dozier, Forsythe, LeMahieu, Lowrie, Gonzolez, Harrison, and Murphy are all going to be free agents next year (not all are great, but most seem at least as good as what we've been looking at, and some are fantastic). If I were Eppler, I'd be tempted to use Kinsler as a bandaid, and then sign one of them, hoping that the over-saturated market drops some prices.

I've been following all of the Major baseball reporters on Twitter and I have to say I think Heyman has only broke one deal (Neshek I think it was). The rest of his tweets are regurgitation of other reporters tweets or stories. Guy doesn't have much original stuff. Never have been a fan of his.

Oh, man, I *wish* altuve was a  FA next season - Astros have a $6.5m club option for him in 2019.

Yes. The going rate for one win last year was about $9 million. 

I doubt very few relievers even sign a contract for less than $11 million total. How many starting position players will sign for less than $11 per season?
