We don't need him to have a ton of power. He gets on base. His career BB/9 is 3.3, which isn't bad.

And he'll only be 23, so he should improve.

I'd be surprised if he winds up hitting in the long term. I think a team will give him the chance in order to sign him, but it won't be long before everyone realizes he's not a good enough hitter to be worth the trouble.

That's why, if he's smart, he'll go to an NL club. It's far easier to throw at bats to your pitcher over in that league... for now...

He’s pretty versatile but I think he will be joining the AL and pitch in a normal rotation but will more likely DH on his non pitching days as a protective measure. He could also serve as a 4th outfielder as needed.

he's listed as 5'9" and played in japan, where the fences are notoriously shorter.  if he signed here, i wouldn't count on him to provide much power at all.

If he’s into HR stats then he would probably be a good fit for that short porch in NY.
