It isn't that different.  You have a section of society that can afford to protect themselves  and one that can't.

Yep. However people choose to defend themselves and their families is up to them. If someone can afford armed body guards then that is great.

Mexico isn't a developed country. They have a badly corrupted government that's at war with the cartel . That might have something to do with it.

Lou was correct in stating that it didn't include every country.

Regardless, the countries listed outpopulate us by a considerable amount but yet the tally isn't even close. The common denominator is gun control. This is irrefutable.

Does that make her wrong though?
These guys all have armed entourages, thier kids do, families do... i dont see the secret service carrying  pepper spray.  Obamas kids have or at least had armed escorts.
Hollywood has houses guarded by walls and armed patrols and body guards.
The hypocrisy on this issue is more than a little staggering.

No hypocrisy at all. Look at all of the celebrity stalkers that are out there. Look at how many celebrity homesick have been broken into by people just wanting to be close to them. I have no issue with celebrities hiring security to protect them and their families. To suggest they give up their armed security during a time when the crazies are multiplying, as if it's some kind of overt committment to a safer society, is silly and foolish, and potentially deadly.

Secret service protection for presidential families shouldn't even be up for discussion. I can't begin to imagine the kinds of threats Obama and his family received over the years, especially the number of racial threats that must have come in. We'd all probably be overwhelmed to hear about how many it was, and how specific they probably were.

I'd probably feel differently if it was celebrities and athletes arming themselves to take care of threats.

Isn't a developed country? Are you claiming it's a shithole?

The entire graph is dissengenuous as shit, cherry picking the richest few western european nations but being careful to leave out any that didn't conform to their conclusion.

Every American has the right to self preservation and defense. Celebs and politicians use armed body guards because they can afford it or it is provided to them. The rest of us cannot afford such luxuries so we have to arm ourselves for self defense. If you are OK with relying 100% on the police for protection then that is your choice but we should not limit someone else from having the means to defend themselves.

We have a memorial outside of the small shopping center in my neighborhood for police Lt. Louis Pompeii.

On June 9, 1995, Pompei stopped at Vons Market to buy dog food. He was in a checkout line when a gunman ordered everyone down to the floor. Although they complied, the robber pistol whipped an employee. Pompei intervened, moving himself and the gunman away from the crowd to avoid any citizen being shot.

Pompei was unaware of a second shooter behind him. Although shot in the chest, abdomen and leg, he wounded the robbers, kept citizens safe and dialed 9-1-1 on a pay phone before collapsing. He died after surgery at San Dimas Community Hospital.

I had just told people at where I worked how quiet San Dimas and particularly our neighborhood was when driving home I saw helicopters, squad cars and firetrucks at the Vons and wondered what went on.

The guy who planned the robbery and drove the getaway car is out of prison, his two accomplices that shot Pompeii are serving life sentences without parole.

They held a 20th anniversary ceremony two years ago but it was mostly police department attendees. Nobody goes to the memorial next to the Vons anymore, no flowers or candles, most of the people in our neighborhood have moved on and he has all but been forgotten.

Um, they defend a constitutional right?

by the way,  they also conduct thousands of gun safety classes

The left doesn't like that part of the constitution so they don't consider any of that stuff good. As far as training, they do some good things.

Surely Sheriff Israel will publicly shame himself and his department for this, right?

Went on a Sunday morning news show and informed everyone he won't resign and that he's an "amazing leader."

Awesome
