They left out most of Central and South America

This is true.  But being honest, are those good comps vs. the ones on the list ?  I’m not sure what the point of fretting over Guatemala being left off is.  The US isn’t a failed state.  A lot of these places you’re talking about essentially are.

Totally true but based on the sheer number of guns we have (by far the most) our gun violence per guns and capita isn’t that bad.

Questions for the board:

1. How many people here don't own a gun?

2. How many people here have never fired a gun?

1. i don't own a gun

2. the last time i shot a real gun was 1975 or 76.

3. the last time i fired any kind of weapon was a paintball gun at my brothers' bachelor party in 1991.

Most folks who want their guns aren't going to sell them back.  I believe the majority of people who will sell them back are criminals looking to make a buck (plus the know they can get another gun any time they want, probably on the cheap)

Stealing guns to turn them into a no questions asked buy back seems like a good way to make a few bucks

Liz is another trying to be too smart chick. If anyone should be packing it should be trained security not the damn idiot actors.

Does that make her wrong though?
These guys all have armed entourages, thier kids do, families do... i dont see the secret service carrying  pepper spray.  Obamas kids have or at least had armed escorts.
Hollywood has houses guarded by walls and armed patrols and body guards.
The hypocrisy on this issue is more than a little staggering.

That’s completely bullshit.  These people that require armed guards are wealthy high profile individuals.  Their status makes them targets.  They’re nothing like Joe random.

Really, who gets robbed more, Joe Rich and Famous or Joe Random.

That is some serious elitism there.

Yes having home security and armed patrols is good

If everyone had to go through the same training/background checks to get a gun as the security guards do to become one there would be no problem

Have you seen many security guards?  I am not confident.

This is another reason I am questioning too much gun control.  It separates the divide between wealthy/not wealthy even more.

Oh brother here we go again with elitism stuff.  It’s not elitism at all. It’s a statement of fact.  The armed security that a specific set of people need isn’t for random hold ups.  It’s because these people are deliberately targeted.  Which is a reality for high profile people.  It’s apples and oranges.

The odds of being randomly held up are pretty damn low.  What is it with people being terrified of everything.  We need to stop immigrants because they’re terrorists and rapists.  We need unfettered access to guns because I might get held up or because tyranny !  I know these aren’t things that seriously concern you MT.  Why indulge this nonsense when the price that we pay as a society is so terrible.

blaming the NRA is stupid

In this case, perhaps more than most others, there is so much blame to be had, and the bulk of it has nothing to do with the NRA or guns in general.
So many warning signs, so many opportunities to make a change in this persons path, so many failures to do so.

It isn't that different.  You have a section of society that can afford to protect themselves  and one that can't.
