Upton won't opt out but it wouldn't surprise me to see him ask for a salary increase as an incentive to stay.

In the last seven games, the Angels literally only needed to go 2-5 to be firmly entrenched in the race. 3-4 to be in the lead, 4-3 to be in the drivers seat, 5-2 to be on the brink, 6-1 would've locked it up. 

We went 0-7.

That would be a huge gamble. He's already overcompensated  and he had a tough time getting that contract. 

$22.5M per year thru 2021. He's 29 and we are his 5th team already.

Why would Upton want to sign here. This team is crap right now, pitching is bad, relievers or bad, manager always does the wrong moves, even Trout is lost in the stream, turtle ass albert on the team. I would not sign to stay with the angels unless Moreno spends some money and get some good players. I bet Upton will keep his eye on what the Angels do before he decides to stay or go, which I don't blame him.

This is one of the weakest free agent classes I can remember. He'd be crazy not to opt out unless he absolutely loves it here. The way this team's played the last two weeks during the most critical stretch of the season, that may be a tough sell.
