Just to volunteer to read books at my kids school, I had to be fingerprinted and background checked. If I had this guys past, I would t be let anywhere near the school.

When I was dating my now wife, who is a teacher in Anaheim, I had to get background checked to go on a field trip.

This guy should not have been allowed on a campus, unless he wasn't background checked.

he was known to the staff and apparently that's why he was allowed to go to her room. i'm guessing there'll be a change in this policy moving forward.

if it's a small school, spouses are generally known to all the staff members, and that may have been why they weren't more careful about letting him go to her room to drop something off, which is what he claimed he was going to do. i'm at a small school and my wife wouldn't need much more than a wave of the hand to come see me, if she even bothered to stop by the office at all (which on our campus is not a requirement for spouses). i don't fault the school on this one; i fault this grade A dick for abusing their trust and his relationship with them.

I swear to god, at some point, each person is going to need a police officer to escort them at all times.

So now the underfunded front office staff at the elementary school has to play first line of defense for husbands who are packing?

I am sure there is plenty of room in every budget for the extra security.

I visit my wife at least five times a school year, bringing her lunch. The office staff knows me and I always sign in. I hope there isn't some unwarranted knee jerk reaction that prevents us from having these few moments together.

you can bet on exactly that happening.. you'll need to go through a detector at least, then a cavity search.
