A truck plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in the German capital Berlin on Monday evening, killing one person and injuring several others, the police said.

Local media, citing police at the scene, said first indications pointed to an attack on the market, situated near the fashionable Kurfuerstendamm avenue and at the foot of the ruined Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church that was kept as a ruin after World War Two.

ISIS claims responsibility.

German authorities have released the man they previously thought was the driver, saying there is no forensic evidence to show he was in the cab of the truck.

The search for suspects continues.

Berlin truck attack: Police hunt for Tunisian suspect

A French version of the European Arrest Warrant issued for Anis Amri:

The warrant lists six different aliases used by Anis Amri, who at times tried to pass himself off as an Egyptian or Lebanese.

He is reported to have travelled to Italy in 2012 and then on to Germany in 2015 where he applied for asylum and was granted temporary leave to stay in April of this year.

Ralf Jaeger, the minister of interior of North Rhine-Westphalia, said on Wednesday that the claim for asylum had been rejected in June but the papers necessary for deportation had not been ready.

If he only moved to LA.  Then millions would be raised to fight his deportation.

Wait a minute...this man spent four years in an Italian jail for setting fire to a school and also the reception center where he was held after reaching the country. Four years?! And then they let him into Germany??

There's more. Why is this man still breathing??

It is not entirely clear when he became radicalised, but it had happened by the start of this year, when he was investigated over another terror plot. It was reported on Wednesday that he was put under surveillance on suspicion he was planning a robbery to fund the purchase of automatic weapons for a possible attack with accomplices.

Even prior to this investigation, Amri had been identified by German police as a potential terror threat because he was an asylum-seeker known to use aliases and false identity documents.

During his time in North Rhine-Westphalia he was in contact with a number of men who were arrested in November — among them Abu Walaa, one of the most notorious jihadist preachers in Germany.

No borders.  Such a great concept for homeland security.
