It's killing me... what is the story behind this? I'm hoping it's photoshopped.

Not sure of the circumstances behind this stadium but it clearly shows the potential for section 8 housing in Angels Stadium and those Chinese developers need to have a plan B in place if Arte bolts Anaheim.

A 350 foot tall apartment complex is pretty freakin' large. In comparison the Big A is only 230 feet tall.

I wish they would make this more like an Irvine Spectrum kind of deal, however, if they're going to be building a parking structure, if you look at the outline of the land from google maps, it doesn't look like they have a whole lot of room. It feels like this is going to be cramped as hell. And like others have mentioned, is just going to increase traffic with the potential new residents.

I'm on the wall whether I like this or not. I'm not a huge fan of the artists rendering.

reading the posts on this thread is interesting.

the Halos withdrawing their opposition to a project adjacent to and near the Stadium property is not the same thing as the Halos and the City coming to an agreement on a long term Stadium lease.

what happened here is the Halos created some waves by objecting to a project proposal on property that would have impacted the city's offer (withdrawn some time ago) to Arte for a $1 a year lease in exchange for developing the stadium area property and agreeing to make certain stadium and area improvements.  That offer voted upon (and passed) the City Council but the Mayor objected and the offer was withdrawn. This development proposal makes the witndrawn offer less attractive because it potentially decreases the value of the proposed Arte controlled development next to the Park with a competing like-kind project.

The Halos withdrew their appeal because the development consultants/legal team advising Arte no doubt let him know -- this appeal is a loser.

Rather than appeal a losing effort appeal, the Halos talked the developer on the adjacent site who's reps probably told the Halos 'pound sand' we're moving forward.

So the two sides talk, some very cosmetic like concessions are made and 'an agreement' reached.

This really does little in terms of the Halos/ City talks but may spell the final death knell for the prior city offer which was in rigor mortis status anyway.

These Chinese developers are taking a huge risk investing in an area next to a stadium that may be vacated if Arte finds another city or state to move to. My guess is that Arte will create an alternative plan and threaten to move right in the middle of construction and force the City of Anaheim to pay for the stadium renovations.

But the Angels are drawing 25,000 to 35,000 baseball fans to that area of Anaheim 5-7 days a week. Yes there's a risk if they leave.

Not to mention the amount of time to build....City of Anaheim on the building side doesn't do anything real quick especially on the building permit side....They wouldn't be able to get out of their own way! The corner is still not built exception of a single start to construction!  Let's not even start on the Katella and St. College side of things.....

Arte could really put the squeeze on the city if he could find another local city or in another state with a serious offer to accommodate the Angels. Could you imagine what those Chinese developers would do if Arte said "Sorry but, we're leaving"
