Well, Trout won't be winning the MVP this year.  he plays for a non-contender, and if you don't play for New York or Boston, then being on a non-contender is a deal breaker.  Now if Eppler managed to put together a winner (or if Dipoto didn't suck so hard - if you prefer to blame him instead) Trout would be a lock for MVP. 

As it stands, I'm thinking Altuve wins it this year.

For this entirely fictional award with absolutely no established criteria, if you had to spend more than 3 seconds finding and selecting Mike Trout then you should probably remove the stick from your ass.

i think ortiz has had the best first half. look at his stats, and look at where his team is.

love trout dearly, but there's a lot of homerism in these poll results.

It's close between Big Poopy, Altuve, and Trout.

Altuve is having a vintage Moe Jorgan (mid 1970s) type of season with the high OPS, being 2nd in AL steals (barely behind Rajai Davis), and playing solid defense (2nd in AL fielding % for 2B and 3rd in AL dWAR for 2B).

Trout may be the best player in baseball but as has been the case every season he's been in the majors aside from 2014 if they voted for MVP today he wouldn't win it.  Donaldson, Ortiz and even Altuve would be steal votes because their teams are doing much better.

That said, I voted for Donaldson because he's been just as good as Trout but on a contender.

Altuve was my second choice to Trout.

Houston is going to make the AL West interesting -- Altuve will be a major reason why.

Trout will be the best player in MLB playing on a team with 95-100 losses.
