Can we fast forward to the part of the thread where someone posits (facetiously or not) that we should all be allowed to carry nuclear suitcase bombs?

Why shouldn't we? They dont kill people. You have to type in a code or push a big button for that to happen. Plus, it's our right. Says it right there in the 2nd amendment.

Actually, "posit" was a bit awkward in that context, though not totally wrong. "Propose" is a valid synonym.

"Posit" more properly refers to something assumed as fact for the sake of argument.

It's just fine. It's all relative to the perspective of the person making the statement.

Meanwhile people in Chicago are pissed off because the Bait Trucks used by the police are outing criminals.

"Police should focus on reform and improve outreach to communities that have been too often the target of police abuse," Karen Sheley of the ACLU said.

Roderick T. Sawyer, alderman for Chicago's 6th Ward, said the operation "serves only to undermine already fragile efforts to build trust between law enforcement and the community."

Yeah, don't focus on capturing criminals, work on more... Uh... trust, yeah that's it, more trust in a community that you can't trust to not steal anything that isn't nailed to the floor.

This really is close to entrapment.  I agree with the ACLU (can't believe I said that).

There is nothing entraping about this. The truck has seasled packages that they have to use a knife to open. If you are not a theif you are not getting in the back of the truck, tearing open packages and walking off with shit that isn't yours.

I said close.  And it is.  There wouldn't be a crime if the cops didn't set it up
